Annelisa Smith

Fundraising Director / Legal

Annelisa Smith is an attorney and founding partner of McKean Smith – a law firm with offices in Portland and Vancouver. Her practice focuses on representing clients in complex family law issues including domestic violence, allegations of child abuse, high conflict child custody matter as well as family owned business and high net worth divorce.  Jensen and Annelisa have been friends for more than 20 years since their college days at Oregon State University. In 2020, Jensen was Annelisa’s first call when one of her employee’s children went missing in the forest near Mt. St. Helens. The success of that rescue led Annelisa to look for ways she could support the efforts of these highly trained dogs and handlers in finding the lost and giving support and strength to survivors of abuse and trauma. While Annelisa admires the skill and drive of the Malinois, she focuses her personal K9 efforts toward her Muppet of a standard poodle Augustus as he brings comfort and support to the clients and staff of her law firm.

Sarah Aeschliman

Sarah Aeschliman was asked to join the CHAIS board, not because of an extensive resume but because of her extensive character.
Sarah didn’t apply or petition to join the organization, we sought her out. She had proven herself, time and time again, to be a true friend.  Her character embraces loyalty, integrity, honor – everything that we hold in the highest regard.  Sarah is a voice of compassionate reason.
A dedicated dog-woman, she is the proud owner of three incredible dogs. Rogue, Whiskey and Raptor.  Whisky is a spicy potato (aka a Frenchy advocacy / therapy dog), Rogue is an accomplished tracking and aspiring HRD dog in training and Raptor is the resident tough guy who keeps everyone in line.  Together the team is passionate about the CHAIS Missions.
